April 1st was our 13th year in business. It was also April Fool’s Day. So I never send out an email on that day. But I’m sure when I quit my job and started this business, many of my friends thought I was a fool and starting the business on April 1st was appropriate. Well it just so happened that April 1, 2002 was a Monday.
It has been an amazing 13 years. When we began, people were just starting to move away from dial-up modems and broadband speeds were about 1.5 Mbps. There was no such thing as a smart phone. Streaming video was a hurry up and wait process. MySpace was hot and Facebook was an idea. And a cloud was only something that blocked out the sun.
Today almost half our support calls are done with remote access. We can monitor your computers, servers and networks and let you know when you have a problem. We can backup your data remotely so you no longer need to remember to change a tape or DVD. We can even keep you updated during a repair process via email so you do not have to call in and ask.
People always ask me what I like best about my job. It is my customers. I enjoy servicing my business customers, it kind of feels like I work at hundreds of different places. I’m grateful that I am invited into peoples homes. I am especially grateful when a customer returns for repeat business.
So I write this email to thank all of our customers. Over the years we have laughed with you, cried with you, prayed with you and even grieved with you. All of you have been part of our family. We look forward to another 13 years
